I use a lot of videos from YouTube in the resources that I curate, create and share with staff and students, and others. YouTube engages learners and has some good content! What I do not like are the ads before the video begins, the pop-ups during and the sidebars highlighting other videos that may or may not be appropriate for all viewers.
The key to sharing a YouTube video without any ads is making it “cookie-less”.
Here are the instructions:
1. Go to the YouTube video and click the “Share” button
2. Click on the “Embed” option
3. Copy the URL from the Embed Video code
4. Paste the URL into Microsoft Word, Google Docs, or another Text Editor
5. Add “-nocookie” after youtube in the URL
6. Use this URL to share your video
